Building Tech for Climate Action

Are you passionate about technology and environmental activism?

We’re the Climate Intelligence Network — a growing community of techies, lawyers, scientists, storytellers, and citizens on a mission to protect the planet. We’re building tools to mobilize volunteers, amplify data, and empower communities across the Global South with data, action, and storytelling—and we need your help!

We’re currently working on 4 exciting projects:

Mobile App

Connect volunteers with environmental tasks, validate their contributions using geo-fencing and QR codes, and reward their efforts.

Website

A hub for the network with data dashboards that visualize our progress and the data we gather.

ESA Visual Tool

Environmentally Sensitive Area Visualization. An interactive platform to map and understand critical habitats that need protection.

WhatsApp Bot

A simple, intuitive way for people to report incidents and contribute to climate data collection.

We’re seeking enthusiastic developers who want to contribute their skills to a cause that matters.

What You’ll Do

📱 Collaborate with a diverse, global team to develop the Climate Intelligence mobile app — helping volunteers complete real-world environmental tasks and earn rewards.

🖥  Support with building and maintaining our climate action website — showcasing citizen-reported data, stories, and dashboards.

🗺  Help develop an interactive ESA (Environmentally Sensitive Area) visualization tool — making biodiversity/geospatial data beautiful and actionable.

💬  Help create a WhatsApp chat bot — giving communities a quick way to report incidents like wildlife harm or illegal coastal construction.

👨🏼‍💻 Contribute to open-source codebases and participate in design, documentation, and issue tracking.

🍻 Join regular virtual/physical dev meetups to share progress, ideas, or memes.

💚 Build with purpose — your code will fuel grassroots climate action, data gathering, and global advocacy.

Skills We’re Looking For

We’re looking for developers across different specialties, but everyone on the team should have a few things in common: passion for climate action, a collaborative spirit, and a hacker’s mindset for solving real-world problems with code.

General Requirements (for all contributors):

💚 A strong personal interest in environmental activism, sustainability, or social impact

🌍 Willingness to collaborate with a diverse and mission-driven global team

🛠️ Experience working on open-source or collaborative dev projects (GitHub, GitLab, etc.)

🤝 Good communication skills — respectful and proactive

🌐 Comfort with remote work and tools like Notion, GitHub, Figma, and Discord

Why Join Us?

🐾 Real Impact — Your code helps track illegal deforestation, monitor endangered wildlife, and mobilize climate volunteers across regions that are often left out of the global tech conversation.

🌱 Mission-Driven Team — Join a group of people who care deeply — about the planet, about justice, and about building meaningful tech for good.

🔓 Open Source & Open Heart — Everything we build is open-source. You’ll learn, contribute, and grow with a community that’s collaborative, welcoming, and transparent.

🧠 Creative Freedom — This isn’t a rigid job. You’ll have space to propose your own ideas, explore new tech, and shape how our tools evolve.
